I am a huge Howa / Weatherby fan, and love the Howa Mini in 7.62x39. The problem I was having was the stock 5 round magazine was digging into my back when I was using the sling. I also found the magazine interfered with my bench bags when shooting from the bench at the range.

There are plenty of people that have took the factory 5 round magazine and cut it to make it shorter, but I refuse to cut a very expensive piece of plastic. Here in Canada, these mags are hard to come by. I offer a no cutting temporary solution.

I decided to make a DIY kit that uses the factory follower and spring. The new mag shell will sit almost flush with the btm of the rifle, making it more comfortable to carry and bench shoot. The new mag shell will also put more tension on the mag release lever, making accidental mag drops a thing of the past. (I went a step further and filed my factory mag release lever shorter). The new mag shell is compliant with Canadian hunting regulations by only holding 2 rounds.
